Update (15/03/2024): One of the RPi microUSB cards has become corrupted and will need access to the site to be fixed. **Digital mode is currently unavailable.**

📍 Repeater Location

The repeater is located in JO01GW near Beazley End, about 4 miles north of Braintree, Essex.

⚙️ Hardware & Setup

The repeater is currently running in **dual mode (analogue & DMR)**, though some intermittent issues remain. Internet access is required for DMR mode, and we are evaluating future options.

The system uses **two Icom F6012 UHF radios**: - **One for receiving** - **One for transmitting**
If the transmitter fails, the radios can be swapped to restore operation.

Repeater logic is controlled by a **Zetron Repeater Controller**, shown below.

🔧 Features

  • 🕒 Timeout: 5 minutes.
  • 📢 Courtesy Beeps: Up to 5 before reverting to standby, allowing others to call in.
  • ⚠️ Power Failure Alarm: If mains power fails, an alarm is broadcast over the air.
  • 🔋 Battery Backup: Lasts up to **1 day** in case of power failure.

The repeater is housed in a **shared equipment rack**, as pictured below.
